First in the longest running series of rallying annuals. It is no wonder that this book is an collector's item which people are ready to pay a high price for. Yet, behind all the status and glamour, it is rather confusingly presented and lacking in clarity.
Majority of the format, like the editorial bits on the beginning, driver biographies and the meat of the book, the results, have endured. Subsequent editions in the series have all these same sections but presented in slightly different way. Results for top-10 with class winners included (even if outside top-10), also major retirements are listed. Entries do not have name of the entrant marked but rally leaders and stage positions are included.
Text is by Martin Holmes and photographs almost solely by Hugh Bishop or Holmes himself. Photographs dominantly black-and-white, some in color.

Abarth - Fiat and Lancia competitions department
Even if this article is seven pages of photos and only half a page of text, it is very interesting insight into inner workings of the mighty Fiat and Lancia competitions department.
Thoughts of Tony Pond
Interview in narrative style with British rally driver Tony Pond. Covers various aspects of rally driving, from early career via various cars to setups and rally preparation.
Behind the Iron Curtain
Interview in Q-A style with Soviet Union rally driver Stasis Brundza. Very interesting for many reasons, especially bearing in mind that this interview was conducted during the Cold War. Interview was conducted via interpreter as Statis did not speak english.
Your car is only good as its homologation
This article has it's roots in homologation difficulties that Vauxhall experienced in 1978 Rally Portugal. Article starts by explaining the homologation prerequisites and the process involved (at the time) and continues into background for Vauxhall's problems and ends with a question, how to prevent this in the future.
Long-distance rally drivers
Yet another interview, this time with Andrew Cowan. At the time of writing he was "just" a rally driver.
Long-distance rally drivers
And fourth interview, with Markku Alen's co-driver Ilkka Kivimaki. This interview is also in Q-A style but without interpreter this time as Ilkka spoke (good enough) english.
