This time book is slightly changed from previous edition. The year in retrospect is dropped in favour of a diary and book has 16 more pages. Some of these are taken up by advertisements which make a return but mostly new pages are used for longer articles.
Text is by Martin Holmes, pictures either by him or Maurice Selden. The number of color photos inceases again but black-and-white photos are still extensively used.

Hannu Mikkola - Ideas from a rallying legend
First driver to reach 100 WRC starts and at the time of writing, also the driver with most WRC wins talks with Holmes about rallying. Under various topics, Hannu gives advice to young drivers in jumping and sliding, but also talks about things like career priorities and psychology.
Lancia's engineer Lombardi talks Group A
Claudio Lombardi, Lancia Martini's chief engineer explains some of the difficulties the team faces with Group A regulations in 1987. From his narrative it's easy to see why switch to Group A was thought to be a death blow to the sport. Difficulties were numerous and most obvious solutions weren't allowed by the rules. Surprisingly enough, Lombardi doesn't think that reliability would suffer with Group A cars and he reckons that those cars will soon be faster than Group B cars had been. A view which history would prove correct.
