Without a doubt, all-time low moment for Hyundai was press release by Hyundai Motor in 17th of September 2003, stating that "withdrawing is a painful decision but also a realistic admission that a break is absolutely mandatory for us to reorganise and rethink our entire approach to motorsport. But we'll be back in 2006 in fighting form with a completely new engine and car to mount a more credible challenge for the WRC crown."
It is doubtful whether Hyundai indeed does make a comeback, especially as the withdrawal period is so long and because their split with MSD was not over results or technical matters rather than finances and contractual stipulations.
