Hirvonen took lead early on and following Loeb's accident in first day, needed only to keep eye on Daniel Sordo.

Sordo saw a chance to score his first WRC win and pressed Ford drivers quite hard during Saturday. Ultimately he couldn't get past but was promoted to second after Latvala's crash.

Latvala was on course to finish second but turned from hero to a fool as he clipped a barrel and retired during final super special stage.
