Initially Sordo was not close to top and it seemed Citroen's consecutive run of wins in Germany would end. On third day Sordo improved, took lead and scored his long awaited maiden win.

Neuville's run of impressive drives continued. In his first pure tarmac event with Ford he chased leaders hard and missed his maiden win only narrowly.

Volkswagen's home event was their worst in the season so far. Ogier took early lead but went off and destroyed his suspension. Latvala then assumed lead only to suffer similar fate.
