Ogier again worked his Mexico magic, benefiting both from his later position on the road and red flag on SS10 where he suffered a puncture and was set to lose lot more time than he eventually did with notional time he was awarded. His win was Citroen's eight win in Mexico.
Tanak opened the road and was set to lose time while doing that. He kept his head cool and while almost all other works drivers encountered various difficulties, he steadily gained positions and ended rally a fine second overall, though he missed out on power stage points.
Evans was another driver with trouble-free run and for a long time held second overall. Mediocre time on SS14 saw Tanak come within striking distance and eventually past but Evans still kept final podium place.
Hyundai had a lot of trouble. Worst off was Sordo, who lost second overall when he retired with electric problem after first day. Mikkelsen collected two punctures with just one spare on board, thus retiring. Neuville (pictured) got just one slow puncture and ended fourth overall.
