Sebastien Loeb's seventh consecutive win in Germany was also 1-2 for Citroen, catapulting Citroen into championship lead.

Duval was once again very strong and finished on podium, although trailing Hirvonen until his puncture on SS14.

Gigi Galli's crash had all elements of a fatality in it: roll into a tree at full speed. Luckily he only broke leg and many WRC drivers visited him in the hospital.
