Skoda concentrated on slow and steady approach, both in rallies as with car development. First evolution of Octavia WRC was relatively little changed, featuring certain facelift elements from base car but also uprated engine, better weight distribution and handling modifications.
Uprated engine meant new turbocharger and improved cooling but related work included revised gear ratios and improved suspension.
