For 2002, Gunther Steiner moved to Jaguar F1 team and he was replaced by former Prodrive employee Christian Loriaux. Unfortunately, Loriaux arrived too late to have really major impact on design of 02 model Focus and his real masterpiece is 03 version.
In fact, Focus 02 was developed during the year more than in any single big step at the start of the season. There were host of changes for Monte Carlo like revised cylinder head, lightened flywheel and crankshaft, relocated power steering pump, modified dashboard layout and repositioned handbrake.
During the year changes included paddle-shift gear mechanism on all cars and redesigned roof scoop, surprisingly bigger than the old one.
