Puncture A tyre gone flat. Tyre manufacturers had technology to allow cars run on flat tyres (Pirelli had EMI and Michelin ATS) but this has since been banned. See also mousse. Changing punctured tyre on stage takes around two minutes so if finish is close, driver may choose not to change it. Running on flat tyre destroys it completely, sometimes also damaging bodywork and wearing rim down.
