Contrary to pre-rally predictions, Loeb did not suffer from sweeping on Day 1. Instead, other drivers suffered from dust and apart from few stages, Loeb led the rally.
Surprisingly, Loeb's strongest rival was Latvala. He even took lead on first day but lost it on last stage due to dust. Even more impressive was his pace on tarmac on Days 2 and 3.
Using soft tyres on final stages, Mini drivers were able to dominate Power Stage. Kris Meeke was fastest and team-mate Sordo second fastest.
