Second version of the Mitsubishi Lancer had only small developments in various areas. Aerodynamically, it had a Gurney flap installed on lower part of the rear wing and new front air dam, which made car more stable in high speeds.
Suspension geometry was refined and dampers were changed to Ohlins, which gave slightly more suspension travel, helping to overcome Lancer's weak point. Mitsubishi's first try on active transmission was realised and installed on the car but initially proved somewhat difficult to make perform well.
