Rovanpera started well despite having to open the road. He was outside top-3 only once and kept in touch with Neuville and Ogier. When first Neuville and later Ogier suffered broken suspensions, Rovanpera took the lead. He cemented this with PS win, claiming maximum score and reaching 200 championship points. Hyundai seemed to repeat their 2022 win with Neuville leading Ogier in second day. But on SS10, he hit water covered pothole, broke front suspension and retired for the day. The only driver with no problems besides winner was Sordo (pictured), who fought with Evans until the end but couldn't improve on his third overall position. Ott Tanak

M-Sport woes continued. Loubet retired on first day with water pump problem even before reaching start of the stage and while Tanak (pictured) managed to fix similar issue, he incurred heavy time penalties for lateness. This dented his attack although he eventually finished fourth overall, minutes from the lead. Click picture to see larger version in a pop-up window
