Toyota was firm pre-event favourite, fielding former winners of the event and clearly superior car. Heavy downpour on SS7 hit Pajari but benefited Ogier who had taken lead from SS2. His win seemd settled when he had unexplained high-speed crash on SS17, allowing Pajari (pictured) into lead and victory. Behind him Evans had survived sweeping and an off, finishing third. Hyundai also had two major incidents. Lappi went off and retired on SS4 whereas Neuville broke his front suspension on SS5, losing lot of time but continued. Fourmaux (pictured) had decent speed but even he couldn't match speed of Toyotas. He eventually finished fourth overall as both Ogier and Sesks went off, granting two positions for him. In a rally where all teams lost at least one driver in crashes, M-Sport lost two. Armstrong's off was small but her got stuck into ditch in SS3 whereas Sesks rolled heavily on SS14 while he was fifth. McErlean (pictured) wasn't fast but as he didn't crash, he finished best M-Sport Ford in 7th place overall, behind two drivers that also had their offs (Evans and Katsuta).
