Ogier started fastest in foggy conditions and despite worrying transmission noise kept his lead throughout the rally. This scored VW their fourth makes' title. Big news came few days after the rally as VW board decided to end their WRC involvement, sending shock waves around WRC community.

Fastest Ford in the rally was Ott Tanak, who proved that car still has speed if it's driven properly. His charge was hampered by a puncture and slippery conditions but performance was very impressive all in all.
Once again Neuville and Paddon locked horns in showdown between team-mates and once again Neuville was able to come out on top. His performance towards the end of the season has seen him tighten the grip on runner-up position in championship race.

Citroen and Meeke had disappointing rally, suffering overly much from slippery conditions and lack of traction. Kris didn't challenge for top honours and was happy just to finish while team-mate Breen rolled and couldn't restart due to extensive damage.
